05/10/13 | PLAGUES PERFECT STATE
PREORDERS NOW UP!
Finally, six
brand new tracks from Socal's best kept
secret. Plagues have already started to make
weigh playing countless shows in their area
including Power Of The Riff and releasing
two EP's under Irish Voodoo Records. Now
they are back, with a sharpened perspective,
precise execution and overall sonically more
in tune with their identity. This record has
taken a bit of a darker turn. Matt and Buddy
have constructed a cold, calculated sound
which perfectly piggybacks the trucking
drums, warm thick bass tone and seething
pained vocals. Creating this tone mountain
called "Perfect State". Engineered and
mastered by Erol "Rollie" Ulug at Bright
Lights Studios (Dangers, Graf Orlock,
Children Of God, Seahaven). Limited first
pressing of 300. Special limited edition of
100 on Purple colored vinyl. Digital
download card included.
Vinyl color
options are a "first come, first served"
basis. Don't sleep on it.
You can also stream the new track "Old Holds
For New Constructions" via Toxicbreed's
Funhouse. This track will be featured on
their upcoming compilation Casa De
Diversions that's set to drop May 17th.

/// 05/07/13 | WELCOME MERCY TIES TO
THE OPERATION
Without a doubt, in any label's existence,
they will strive not only to cultivate,
but to maintain a loyal and thirsty
audience. Within that loyalty we strive to
draw equally genuine, extraordinary
artists to work with. Between 2012 and the
current 2013 crop that we have chosen to
represent, GKL has proven to be nothing
short of impeccable. Mercy Ties is not
only an unbound truth on their own, but an
extension of this. Please give them a warm
welcome, for they are now a part of this
ragtag misunderstood outfit we worked so
hard to ban together.
Seattle,
Washington (the Northwest in general) has
always been known for straying away from
"the standard" by pushing boundaries
beyond belief. And why wouldn't we? As far
as the "music industry" is concerned, we
are geographically fucked. Our town dug
deep behind miles of Douglas firs,
treacherous waterways, and even deserts,
are too far off in the Northwest for some
bands to plan their tour around. The
infrastructure and populous is not of
great scale compared to metropolises such
as LA, Boston or New York. So as the
saying goes, one can only truly be
free when they have nothing left to lose,
this region has undoubtedly proven time
and time again over the years that it’s
not just a saying. It’s a rich tradition.
Derived from the
heavy influences of Seattle’s chaotic
mainstays such as Botch, Blood Brothers
and Harkonen, Mercy Ties have taken what
was already considered "complex structure"
or "mathy" and have shot it into new
altitudes, redefining what could be done
when heavy, aggressive music. With what a
conventional band might do in a two minute
time frame, MT can do in about thirty
seconds flat. Stacking unimaginable
amounts of bars, measures and signatures
into each song, they have created a sound
matched by none, overwhelming aura of
distress that nurses its structural
integrity. After sinking their teeth into
two split records, a handful of demo
material, and hefty touring in the past
couple years. MT is not ready to clean up
but rather pull out good silverware and
"go to work", as they say.
Mercy Ties hits the The Red Room at the
end of May with engineer Paurl Walsh (Xray
Press) to record their label debut EP,
then its off to get mastered by the
notable Carl Saff (Young Widows, Kid
Crash, Pygmy Lush, Coliseum). Wowza, that
was a whole of namedropping. Check the
script:

/// 02/11/13 | WELCOME PLAGUES TO
THE OPERATION!
In two years time,
Plagues has not wasted a spare moment
setting down roots to become a name in the
fast moving Socali scene. Self releasing
an EP and another two via Irish Voodoo
Records. They have become a sleeper cell
delivering a pedigree of dark, gritty
hardcore that the region has become known
for. Carrying on a maladjusted tradition
like such outfits as Restrained and The
Love Below, they run with the torch lit by
their own flame of discordant measures,
driving drum lines intertwined with
throat-wrenched vocals spouting out
discontent. Giving an overall ambiance of
self-loathing and desperation, all the
while turning the genre upside-down.
Now finally finding their place amongst
other misfits such as Old Wounds, Convul
and Burn Your Life Down. We are extremely
content to have Plagues apart of this
malfunction. Plagues have already begun
their recording for their debut EP with
Erol "Rollie" Ulug at Bright Lights
Studios (Dangers, Graf Orlock, Children Of
God, Seahaven).
But in the meantime enjoy this music video
entitled "Nineteen" by Plagues. This is
off their split with The Cold Front via
Irish Voodoo Records.

PREORDERS / NEW MUSIC VIDEO!
Talk about an
"afternoon delight"! Check out the new music
video from our boys Old Wounds via Metal
Injection entitled "Disbelieve". Its off
their upcoming LP From Where We Came Is
Where We'll Rest. preorders for the LP
are now available on our webstore. DESCRIPTION
On From Where
We Came..., these young bucks from New
Jersey breathe new life into the crushing,
exhilarating vibe once wielded by bands like
Turmoil, Disembodied, Indecision, and Buried
Alive. A trio consisting of bassist/vocalist
Kevin Iavaroni, guitarist/vocalist Zak
Kessler, and drummer Brandon Gallagher, the
under-21 crew seek to revitalize the
metallic hardcore scene that boomed before
their time -- but this is no mere retro
action, this is pure passion. "The days are
getting longer, the nights are getting
worse! I've tried to keep my head up, why
can't I break this curse?", screams Iavaroni
with all the desperation of a starved wolf,
as the band launches into the album's
opening track. The urgency never lets up
through twelve songs, many clocking in under
2 minutes.

THE OPERATION!
We pride ourselves
of being fortunate enough to work
with artists that not only take
their craft seriously, but push
boundaries much further than their
counterparts. Divider has proven
time and time again with their
versatility in style and
self-reliant approach to
expression. "We used to be fast
and loud, now we are loud and
slow", as they say. And after
hopping from a couple labels, self
releasing a couple record 7"
records they have found a hope
here at GKL.
Divider also will be heading to
Europe at the end of the move to
